WTF is Dynope?

Dynope is the collaborative artistic venture of Craig O and Char Z that explores the possibilities of a private corporation building technologically advanced space vessels and equipment in the mid-20th century alongside Apollo-era engineers and scientists.

Dynope is a fictional corporation based in San Francisco, CA, operating intergalactically. Dynope.com tells the story of the corporation and some of its products. Dynope's universe overlaps with Gerry Anderson's Supercar TV Series, with a collaboration between Dynope and the Black Rock Laboratory team on the C58. The aesthetic blends bleeding-edge tech from the Apollo era of space travel with future tech to influence the past.

Craig independently designed, built, and presented the C57-D at UnScruz and Burning Man. He had a vision to create a crash site of an interstellar rocket ship. C57-D was evolved into C58, with a more defined rocket body and elaborate control console. With the support of a stellar crew Dynope installations have been presented in Califonia and Nevada.

Special commendations to B-Dubs, DennisR, Jeremy, and Danger who have all served on multiple missions. Learn more about us and read our blog.

All our installations were produced in garage shops. The C-57D was produced by Craig O in Santa Cruz. The C-58 and EMP were produced by Craig O and Char Z in San Francisco, and enhancements have been made in Alameda.

Making the C58 Console

The control console gives visitors the ability to unlock hidden messages and (when crew are present) shoot fire.

Making the C58 Rocket

The rocket construction began in 2022. CNC-cut MDF is transformed into shiny discs that stabilize the structure.

Electronics

Our architecture services prioritize function and form to create spaces that stand the test of time.

EMP

EMP is a lighting installation designed to illuminate the front and side of Illumination Village at Burning Man.

C58 Paint and Finishing

How did we make MDF and acrylic look like aged aluminum? And where did we get those switches?

C57-D

Audience-controlled fire installation, shown at Burning Man in 2019 and UnScruz in 2020.

Graphics and Swag

Custom stickers, magnets, placards, and design components from the Dynope product family.
